Computer Engineering

Besides the basic subjects such as software technologies, hardware technologies, basic electronic infrastructure, computer architecture, database, programming, image processing, computer networks, and web technologies used in further developing the existing applications and making them more useful and reliable, also the theoretical and practical education including the actual fields such as information security, artificial intelligence, industrial automation systems, embedded systems, cryptology, mobile systems, cloud information, big data is offered.
By means of this education, the main objective is to educate researcher engineers, who are capable of following the recent technologies and developments in relevant field and, when necessary, developing what he/she has learned, and having the occupational ethics and human values for creating new products and solutions.

Electrical – Electronics Engineering

Humanity is at the beginning of a technological revolution which is incomparable with the past. Currently, we are witnessing such a period that there are great achievements in scientific fields and humanity is passing beyond its own threshold. In today’s technological environment, new definitions for jobs and working processes are continuously being introduced for the sake of a new world. This new world is dominated by mixed-sourced electrical power generation, electronic control of hybrid power systems components, artificial intelligence and automation. In this context, as ones who are responsible for high quality education in the Department of Electrical-Electronics Engineering, our main principle is to educate our students as “Research Engineers”. We want to train them in such a way that they would work as engineers who are dealing with planning, realization, monitoring, protection, control and financial management of hybrid power generation, transmission and distribution systems, alternative energy sources, electrical machines, electrical drive system design, electrical vehicles; processing, transferring, gathering, storing of “data”; applications of system design, antennas, electromagnetic fields and waves; physics of semiconductor electronic components and their production technologies. We also want them to have such knowledge and scientific background that they could keep up with current electrical and electronics engineering technologies, come up with permanent and creative solutions to technical problems, have analytical thinking, modeling and solving ability, occupational ethical and humanitarian values.

Industrial Engineering

Istanbul Gedik University Industrial Engineering Department aims to be a department that designs and implements education systems that equip qualified Industrial Engineers with the knowledge and skills that will provide employment to them.
The aim of the department is to train Industrial Engineers who have advanced analytical thinking skills, have the ability of questioning, team player, career oriented, equipped with the needs of working life, entrepreneur and preferred in all sectors.
With a course plan that provides innovative, necessary competencies in line with the current and future market conditions, the students have unique opportunities to specialize in fields such as Economic and Financial Systems, Operations Research, Statistics, Quality, Supply Chain Engineering and General Industrial Engineering.

Civil Engineering

Basic needs of human being, such as shelter, transportation, living in a healthy and secure life in communities are made possible by a number of engineering buildings and structures. These include various house, school and hospital buildings, skyscrapers, highways, railways, tunnels, bridges, airports, seaports, dams, hydraulic structures, hydro and thermal power plants, water supply and waste water network, underground and underwater tube passages. As an oldest basic engineering discipline, Civil Engineeringdeals withplanning, design, economic evaluation, construction, operation and maintenance of all these engineering systems.

The objective of our department is to educate students such that, upon graduation,   they will be able to apply theoretical knowledge to problem solutions, they will possess lifelong learning skills, ability to work in teams, and they will acquire leadership and entrepreneurship, innovative skills, anawareness of sustainable development.

The graduates of Civil Engineering Department may find employment opportunities in all private companies and public sector, as design engineer in office and field engineer in the construction site. The graduates can start up their own private companies. Those who would like to pursue an academic career can be registered for an MS or PhD degree, both inside the country and abroad.

Mechanical Engineering

Mechanical Engineering is one of the most basic engineering branches. Mechanical engineering is the oldest and the broadest discipline that applies the principles of engineering to the design, research and construction of machines. Most engineering disciplines have evolved with understanding of mechanical scıence throughout the history. For this reason, it contributes to all other branches of engineering. In the industrial field, Mechanical Engineering is concerned with machines, energy and production methods.

Domestic appliances that are an inseparable part of human life, devices used in medical diagnosis and treatment in medicine, machinery and vehicles used in automotive, ship, aircraft, marine and space technologies, lifting appliances, textile machines, motors, steam and gas turbines, jet motors, and robots are designed and produced in the field of Mechanical Engineering. Therefore, mechanical engineers have the ability to work in almost every field of industry, such as design, production, quality control, sales, maintenance and repair.

Mechatronics Engineering

In the 21st century, the basic condition for producing alternative solutions in engineering and academic research is to have interdisciplinary knowledge and experience.Especially in solving problems in industrial areas; Information is needed in each of the Mechanical, Electrical-Electronic, Control and Software fields. In this context, Istanbul Gedik University Faculty of Engineering Mechatronics Engineering Program, which started to take its students in 2011-2012 academic year, gave its first graduates in the 2015-2016 academic year.

Mechatronics Engineering Program is in an effort to provide the students with the best theoretical and practical education with its modern classrooms, computer laboratories and Mechatronics Laboratories located in Kartal campus. In addition, program’s students can find the opportunity to learn applications of mechatronics systems in the field of industrial robotics and its subsystems in Istanbul Gedik University Robot Technologies Application and Research Center and Gedik Holding Robotics Department.

In addition to the Turkish program, 100% English Mechatronics Engineering Program was established in the 2017-2018 academic year and started education with its very first students in the same year.

Metallurgical and Materials Engineering

Metallurgy and Materials Engineering is continuing its development as a multidisciplinary science and technology field spreading to machinery, construction, chemistry, electrical and electronics, environment, automotive, ship and marine technology, aircraft and space technology, biomechanics and medicine. All stages from the production of metals and alloys, ceramics, plastics, rubber and composites to their final use constitute the field of study of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering.

Istanbul Gedik University Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering aims to contribute to universal science and technology by using contemporary education and teaching and national and international quality with the latest educational tools and equipment used in developed countries.

It is aimed to educate graduates who have a strong educational background and who have the ability to characterize structure-property-processing-performance relations of defined / undefined materials with relations between metallurgical production-method parameters and who can use education effectively in design, application and communication fields by means of standard or experimental methods.

Software Engineering

Encompasses technical issues affecting software architecture, design, and implementation as well as process issues that address project management, planning, quality assurance, and product maintenance.

As software becomes ever more common in everything from airplanes to appliances, there is an increasing demand for engineering professionals who can develop high-quality, cost-effective software systems. The BS in software engineering combines traditional computer science and engineering with specialized course work in software engineering. The software engineering degree encompasses technical issues affecting software architecture, design, and implementation as well as process issues that address project management, planning, quality assurance, and product maintenance. Students are prepared for immediate employment and long-term professional growth in a range of software development organizations.
